Graduation Day Is Tomorrow!

Editor’s note: Nikki sent this blog in on January 4 and I was out of town and didn’t get to post it until today. She’s graduating tomorrow from school! We wish her luck.)
Here it is…almost the end...I have a TERRIBLE cold, I feel horrible, and I am completely run down! (I’m writing this at 10:30 p.m.) But I am determined to finish on time! The 600 hours just sneaks up on you!
I just finished a 12-hour day at school. I suppose it’s not too bad right? Preparing me for the “real world”. Ha ha. I am not planning on 12 hour days when I finish school. I went into this industry so I could have flexibility and I know I will make my own hours, so 12 hour days will not be my normal. I want to see my family. Today I left the house before my little one was awake and I got home after she was in bed. At this time I have to get through the hours to graduate, but I will not be away from my family like this every day. (Only some days when I am slammed with clients... J)
I am super excited to finish. I have 45 ½ more hours to go. My graduation is January 10, 2013!
My teacher Ms. Ortega has really helped me and supported me. She is a great encouragement and has allowed me to be creative and free with my work. I know she has helped me grow as a professional.
I have kept myself busy along the way. I have gotten frustrated, but I have found ways to get through it. I have done holiday nails until I don’t want to see any more glitter, red, or green for a while. I have been keeping a steady stream of regular clients and I am feeling very confident in my work. I still want to pick up speed, but my work is looking good and my nails are staying on for 3 to 4 weeks in between fills.
I have included some pictures of recent work I have done. Some are full sets and some are backfills.
I will keep you posted as I get closer and closer.....
Thanks again for the continued support!

Omfg YUCK. These things look like shovels....im a nail tech too and I would never let a client leave with these nails...regardless of a fashion trend. That shits just nasty. The designs are ok, but the shape and the fact they dont look balanced is just wrong.

Good luck on your graduation! Your glitters and colors are looking great! It's always exciting to get those final hours in and the know that your acrylics and gels are holding up! The only suggestion I would give based on your photos is to work on your pinching technique as it looks like you are getting away from the nice natural 'C' curve you should have. There are several videos you can find online to help you esp from NAIO nails (no I don;t sell their product) to help you obtain that look. Also Tammy Taylor nails and of course, NAILS mag. has great tuts for getting a great shaping nail! Keep up the good work and enjoy your future! :)

Nikki,
Good for you! Im so happy for you :)You have done an amazing
job you are a natural. Any "professional" would never come
on and criticize someone's work and cuss to get
their point across. Don't even look at that rude comment.
You have happy clients and you will be successful
in your new career. Keep doing a
wonderful job like you have! Good luck!

^ewww, wtf! That Anon person obviously isn't as passionate as you are about doing beautiful nails. Clearly you give your clients what they want to make them feel happy with their nails. I feel bad for her clients, sounds like she wouldn't give them the look they want only the look she wants. That's not right. But you are AMAZING! Your nails look PERFECTLY balance and stunning as always. Forget the haters they are jealous! I am so happy for you! You are great at what you do and I know you will be extreamly sussessful! Ignore the negativity and know you have so many people rooting for you! I'm so happy for you! You go girl! Love you! <3

While I would like to say a few choice things to the "nail tech" Anon above... I will say I have learned a lot in school one of which that is vital is that customer service is KEY!!! If my clients want a shape or design or custom art, I will do MY very best to ensure my client is pleased and satisfied with my work. I am just starting in this business, but I intend to keep my customers coming back and loyal to me because of my work and who I am as a person and as a professional.

With that being said, THANK YOU to my friends, family, clients and even those I don't know personally for your kind words and your encouragement. I truly believe I am where I am supposed to be!! I'm passionate about this new venture and I can't wait to get out there and rule the world!!! :)

Smooches!!!! Xoxoxo

Idk who the anon person is, but who the hell do u think u r. U prob don't make any money. If u r a nail tech, then u should be up with the trends. Girls love this look. If u do what u want and not what the Customer wants, u suck as a nail tech....just saying

Wow, Anon, what a horrible thing to say. I hope you treat your clients better than you do your fellow techs! Shameful. It isnt about your personal style, it is what the CLIENT wants.

Nikki, I am a student also. Your work is great, best of luck to you! I hope my nails look this great one day too :)
