The nail art galleries have come a long way since their introduction and I recently started making more efforts to upload new pictures and keep my profile up to date. I even started opening the e-mails and keeping an eye on the new uploads that my “friends” have been making.
Which is how I came to discover Glowstars’ gallery.
Now, one of the things I’ve always had an issue with with the nail art galleries is that the “title” field is required when you upload photos — you have to give your photos a name! I think all my photos are named “Nails by Maggie” or “the Art of Nailz by Maggie” or something equally unimaginative, indistinguishable, but easy to Google. I just do not have the time nor the inclination to give each individual photo/nail design its own personal title. And I don’t want to name them “pink and blue polka dots” and “peacock feather on French.” Those are not titles, those are descriptions.
I was into the art thing long before I was a nail artist — I’m all about alluring titles for works of art. But I’ve never gotten into giving titles to my nail art. They mostly end up being “Amy’s nails” once they’re finished and Amy pays for them and goes on about her life.
It just wasn’t something I bothered with.
And then Glowstars came across my radar and put me to shame.
Her penchant for titles is humbling. How could I have not been titling my own work all these years?
I feel like I’ve neglected my work, like I never bothered to name my own children! I just have no idea if I’m up to the task of finding a proper title for each photo in my album, but I guess I owe it to my life’s work to try.
