Politicians Are Sellling Nail Polish?

What are your thoughts on politicians using nail polish as a fundraiser? I was e-mailed this link by my BFF and just find myself unsure of what to think.
On one hand it feels a little insulting. Our industry has a hard enough time establishing credibility with salons not telling the truth about something as simple as what service they are really doing. Do we truly need to add politicians essentially retailing nail polish to that mix? On the other hand I try to find the silver lining in the clouds and a positive spin for most things. Red, white, and blue polishes are always a winning combination in my opinion, that’s positive right?
I would feel a little better about it if the proceeds were for a charity or something that would better the world we live in, and at $40 for the set that could feed a few hungry people. It makes me sad that they will more likely fund negative commercials and unsolicited phone calls to my home at 10 pm on Sunday nights.
I’m curious how you feel about it and if you can help me see it in a more positive light than what my initial impression leads it to.

I don't think polish and politics belong together. I certainly hope a client doesn't bring it in for me to use. That would be annoying.

At the height of the fb flurry over Michelle's polish I witnessed one of my favorite polish companies, Zoya, make a fool of themselves.

They stated that they had sent polish to the DNC and had not confirmed it, but would check with their sources to confirm their guess that it was a Zoya color. Meanwhile they ran a special for that color so we could get the look.

Commenters asked what colors were sent to the RNC. They asked what Zoya color would be closest to Ann Romney's. They responded they weren't sure, but from the pictures they could see, they named a Zoya red color. But no special was offered.

Which leads me to feel they are biased towards one party, thereby alienating their customers who like the other party. If a company is going to run a special, it should be unbiased in approach.

On the link, I think it interesting the items up for sale. Most items' prices have been reduced. Perhaps they are finding people's hope for a better America haven't left them with enough pocket change to afford such prices. Just my thoughts.
