Question About Pedicure Chair (and Don't Forget to Vote!)

I love the annual NAILS Magazine Readers Choice awards because it gives me the chance to not only vote for my favorite products but to see what other techs love as well. I refer back to the winners list on occasion when curious about products as I feel if they were voted on by enough techs to win or place in the top five that there must be something to them. We are all busy people, but I hope you find time in your schedule to vote for your favorite products and tools so that the results represent as many of us as possible! Click here to vote!
Along those lines I’m curious about your opinion on simple pedicure chairs. I have a very small salon space and need to step up my game now that I’ve decided to become a permanent resident of the salon. I’m considering the Indulgence Chair by Belava, as it is simple and could fit in my corner. It looks as though I could turn the chair itself and use it for manicures as well so as to make the most of the space it will take. My Buff & Go serves as my manicure table so moving it around is not an issue. Do any of you have this chair or are there other options out there that are similar? I am interested in a quality option that will accommodate all shapes and sizes without the hassle of a tub. Thanks in advance for the advice!

I have the embrace Belava and loooooove it. My clients say it is comfy enough they could fall asleep. It is very functional as well. It turns easy. Perfect height for my older clients to easily get into but still high enough for me that I'm comfortable working on their feet. It reclines flat for people doing waxing has a table that goes anywhere around the chair you need it. Great for extra space or mani's. Now as far as the indulgence I haven't tried that one but if it's as good as their embrace, you'll love it.

I use the indulgence at one of my locations. I really like it for the most part. It is really easy to move around, good quality and comfortable. I use a portable mani table that rolls right up to the chair when it is turned to the side of the foot rest. The biggest drawback for me is that you can't adjust the distance between the chair and foot rest. If you have a tall client it seems like their legs are a bit cramped when putting them up on the foot rest. If the chair only slid back and forth it would be perfect!

Holly,
I was in the L.A. Area and stopped in at the warehouse, friendly staff, they placed a chair (embrace)so I could sit in it. The chair was very comfy and the footrest was adjustable. Here is a link http://www.belava.com/p-20-embrace.aspx.
The only reason I did not purchase the entire chair is that 99% of my clients insist on the bowl having a jet. I did purchase the base unit that provides heat, and vibration with footpath and liners. I use this for my elderly and disabled clients that cannot use the spa chair and when I do a very rare home service.
Good luck

Holly,
When I was choosing a pedicure chair it was tough! I was on a budget, I needed something that would accommodate me for my mobile services & and all my clients weight that ranged from about 90lbs. to over 260lbs., and of course the sanitation factor was my #1 priority. I considered the Belava but didn't like the fact that the foot tub wasn't deep enough, I didn't want to carry water that way, and I didn't want to spend that type of money.

I traveled to the 2012 Premiere Orlando Beauty event (1st time)to get a up close look at the Belava. After taking Jaime Schrabeck's water-less pedicure class I ended up choosing the Footsie Bath because it was deep enough, it maintained the heat of the water, had a carrying wire basket, used the disposable liners, and offered the vibration as the Belava did. I paired the Footsie Bath with a comfy black recliner and decorated an old wooden wine box to place the Footsie Bath on top of it.This was inspired by Jaime because she shared photos of her salon. My clients ultimately want to be comfortable during their pedi services. So if it is comfortable for you and your clients, and meet all your needs then go for it.

Have you considered doing a "Dry Pedicure" instead of a portable tub? At the Premiere Show I took a Dry Pedicure class that was FANTASTIC!! I think it is the wave of the future. It uses warm towels and completely eliminates any Pedicure Log (required by the state here in Florida) and cleanliness issues that can come with ANY tub whether it is a fancy one with jets or a simple one featured here. Also you can offer any client with any possible "sick toenails" a dry pedicure since you do not risk contamination.
