Our Foot Rests are in Place!

We had another banner day last Saturday when all three of us were busy, and we did more services then any other day so far. It’s pretty cool when a new client asks how long we've been here and we say it’s been almost a year now! Hard to believe a year ago we were taking the big leap, signing leases, and making plans and wish lists.

A few days ago, we had an exceptional day. Even though we were not technically open, we actually seem to be having them pretty frequently lately. Kim called to ask if we would bring the vacuum to the salon. We did and found her husband putting in our long-awaited foot rests!

We are pretty proud of what we have done this past year: opening a nail salon on a budget and decorating and adding things on our wish list, to name a few. One of the things we wanted to accomplish was moving the pedi station we had built and putting in foot rests. The station was up against the back wall, and our backs would be to the door as we gave pedicures.

So move it we did. We totally ripped apart and rearranged the salon. We bought a new rug that ties everything together and built and installed the foot rests on the pedi station. Once done, we all sat back and admired the salon with pride...then the phone rang. It was for an appointment for three gel mani and pedis!

We knew that our salon was going to be a success when we opened and it’s nice to know for sure...

Love the sani pedi! I am in the process of doing the same! What kind of bowls are you using?

We found some large plastic bowls online.

Can you explain how the foot rest are built?

The foot rests are made out of 2x4 wood, covered in a thin metal and edges welded so they are smooth. This metal is paintable so we put white deck paint on them so they could handle getting wet. They are fixed to the top of the pedi station with L brackets and we are going to seal them tight. We made them so our foot baths could slide thru the front and they are 18" or so tall. We cut them down from 24" which were too tall. They also sit 2 inches in from the edge. We are going to spray the tops with some kind of finish that will not let the towels slide when we put it on the footrest. They are great and comfortable for the client.
