I'm Trying to Open a Nail School

Hello nails addicts,

I can’t believe how quickly time flies. I missed a whole month of blogging. In case you were wondering what I’ve been doing, I’m working on a new nail training school that is set to launch this Spring. I have apprenticed several nail techs in my salon over the years to help them earn their licenses, but I think I can make a bigger difference faster if I can open a school. Hopefully I can find some real talent -- people who are passionate about nails and can join my business.

As I mentioned in my last post, I wanted to take a closer look at my staff to see who works and who doesn't. I am happy to say that most of my staff is awesome, but there's always one or a few that need a little adjustment.

Running a salon is challenging when competition is so intense, so if your staff is lacking in customer service or any other areas then it can really hurt the business. And at this economy, we can’t afford to miss anything or anyone!

This year my goal is to create a dream team, a team that everyone wants to be part of and are happy that they are in. A team that clients really can appreciate and know that we have their nails as our top priority.

We are also getting ready to change our menu to introduce new services at the same time as we celebrate our anniversary. Our anniversary for Polished Nail Lounge is March 21, but since we moved into our new salon in August, it is a little weird...maybe we should celebrate both times. Hey, there is always room to party, right? Well, stay tuned! Let me know if you have any suggestion to make this anniversary a blast. :)

Hi I think it's awesome you're opening a nail school. That's been my dream too. I am in upstate NY. Tell me if you will, what all is involved? I am afraid of that first step. Goodluck

Thank you all for your well wishes, taking this big step is very scary, but I know that it will be very rewarding to give back and share my knowledge. Currently I'm teaching at a local beauty school to complete mt instructor licensing and so far the respond from teachers and student alike was awesome, my students said they learned so much that they wish I can teach them everyday, some other instructors in cosmetology even wants to get back into teaching nails, so we all having so much fun! As for the picture here is my salon, I will send some picture of my school when we finish.
