Bumpy Ground

The salon has run into a small hiccup in the permitting process. Surprisingly, the city rejected my “soils report;” it’s the document that talks about the site’s grounds and how the ground will support the building. Apparently, the building would affect the flood level of Ventura Boulevard. It’s not a big deal to get this situation resolved, but it is an unexpected and expensive snag. Now, I’ll have to file a different type of soils report, which also entails a different filing fee. I feel like different challenges just keep getting thrown at me.

I also have to submit my full plans to a second review board, because the salon site happens to fall into some kind of special city zone. The city of L.A. won’t give me the permit until the second review board signs off on my plans. It looks like our permit could be delayed by several weeks. On site, the demolition work is ongoing.

On a more positive note, we have our business cards! And, I do mean physically in my hands. That is an excellent development.
