I'm Just Lazy

Good morning Healthy Tech Talkers. I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. Posts have been a little sparse lately so I’m hoping everyone is just too busy to write in on their progress.

As for me, I’m definitely still in a holding pattern. I just haven’t been able to go full force back to how I was living last year at this same time. I’m only sporadically going to yoga, and I’ve fallen back into a routine of grabbing something quickly (too often fast food or frozen pizza) on my way home from the office. I’m not drinking enough water and I’m not going to Weight Watchers. I’m trying to slow myself from this free fall (believe me, it hasn’t been easy).

I guess what I’m really trying to do is own up to where I am right now and then dedicate myself to getting back into the healthy living mode.

Here are three things I vow to start doing ASAP:

1. No more fast food. I really just need to get to the grocery store and stock up on healthy meals and snacks and I’ll be all set. I like eating good, healthy food; I’ve just been lazy about it.

2. Increase my water intake. This is easy. I just need to think about it a little more.

3. Get to yoga 2-3 times a week and run 2-3 times a week. This is the hardest part for me. The yoga is OK, but I really just don’t like running.

I’ll be in Chicago this weekend for the beauty show, so that throws a little wrench in my plans…but I’ll get through it. And then once I get back, I’m setting April and May as my months to really get into a workout routine. I really have no excuses. I live less than a block from the ocean (the above picture is taken from my walk street) and it’s been so lovely out. I’m just lazy. There I said it. Now maybe that I copped to it, I will do something about it.

Hopefully my honesty will help some of you who are feeling the same way get back into a lifestyle of healthy living. (Full disclosure: Last May I was down 30 lbs. I’ve put 20 of those lbs. back on. Why is it so much easier to gain than it is to lose?)

Hannah, it definitely stinks that we do not have to put any effort into gaining weight but losing it is a constant uphill battle. Some days are worse than others and laziness plays a huge role if we let it. It is really hard to put your foot down and stop kidding yourself that you are making any effort. I applaud you for finding a new begining and empathize with your gain. We want you to be around for a long time so re-prioritize yourself back to being #1 and hang in there :o)

Hannah- You go girl! Sounds like you know what to do. Now, just do it! We are going to have setbacks. This is life. It is ok.

Wow! I am am so jealous of you. I would love to live near the ocean!!! Do you have a bike? I would ride along the ocean if I could.
In Dallas, they will run you over on your bike. My bike has been in my dining room since last January! My husband put new tubes in and repaired the brakes last year for me. I cannot motivate myself to load it in my suv and get to the park to ride. Lazy. Excuses. I work late. NOT a morning person.....
Anyhow, Good luck! Thanks for checking in!

The view is beautiful! It is hard to admit that to all of us. but as you can tell we have all had this happen, and we have eachother to confide in. You CAN do this and i know you will:)
