Soon after the holidays ended, Jan 11th to be exact, I was on the road again — out to Sunny San Diego to film educational spotlights for CND along with coworkers who were very complimentary about my weight loss. Thanks Wanda and Angi! (We took this picture just for you guys!)
My one-time challenge of traveling, lack of sleep, bad eating due to convenience and lack of exercise due to all of the above has almost faded away. How? Commitment. Sounds corny, but it’s very true. I have committed to passing on airplane snacks and bringing my own (usually almonds, or a turkey wrap for longer flights). And when I’m craving more, I will treat myself to a non-fat latte. I have also committed to finding a grocery store upon arrival and buying some healthy rations for the stay — fruit, instant oatmeal and yogurt. You can request a mini fridge from most hotels. I also committed to going to bed at a reasonable hour, passing on drinks, (OK...sometimes) and hitting the gym before starting my day. As Holly has referenced in past blogs...it has now somehow become normal! I feel better and just had an annual check-up with my doctor and am happy to say I have lowered my cholesterol by 100 points! (Yes, it was very high!)
When I’m home I’m still waking at the ungodly hour of 5:30 am to get to the gym. I am finally getting through the classes and actually feel my abs working now (Mondays are abs days) instead of my neck.
The scale hasn’t moved in weeks, but I’m not letting that deter my efforts...after all, what is my other option??
