Hello my friends! Sorry I have not posted in a few weeks. I will spare you all the excuses, but I have enjoyed reading all the new posts.
Holly, you look amazing and I’m jealous of all your snow! I was away for Thanksgiving week at our place in the Adirondacks and we got over 18 inches and it was so much fun. My friend and I built a fort and a snowman...well it became a snowdog. We didn’t have a sled so we put trash bags over our heads and went head first on our bellies down the hills. Lots of fun — and climbing back up the hills was great exercise. And for the first time in a while I didn’t feel like a stuffed sausage with my three layers of clothes...thermals, jeans, jacket and boots.
Connie, Happy Birthday! I’m so happy for you on your weight loss. I too have discovered some new clothes that had been stashed in the back of my closet that had been too tight. It makes it so easy in the morning to figure out what to wear when you don’t have to fight with yourself over what fits and what doesn’t!
Jen, fried bologna?? Mmmmm...interesting. Can’t wait to see your pictures! Seriously, I can totally relate to “all or nothing.” I was reading something recently that said mentally this common thought process is very damaging because everything you eat matters and can add up. If you started the day unhealthy with fried eggs and bacon, you think “Well, I’ve already been bad so to hell with it.” But we shouldn’t think that way. Instead compensate with a bowl of oatmeal for extra fiber to absorb and expel the fat. I know that’s how I think, but now that I’m aware I need to focus on more self control.
I’m continuing my healthy eating with the occasional splurge and still go to the gym every morning. It is so cold in the morning that I dread getting out of bed. I have found if I consider staying in bed, I probably will. So I immediately think of my day ahead of me and all I need to accomplish and then I get up because my mind can’t stop once it starts. Try it! It is the one thing in my life that has actually helped me to create balance! I have come to enjoy this time of my day that allows me to focus on me and start my day right. Because I do a class, I have to focus on the instructor, not the TV. It is great motivation!!
I’m on the last week of my second 10-week session. All is well and currently I am down 30 lbs. I’m halfway there! I will focus on more water. I seem to get into the habit of hot coffee or tea during the day when the weather is cold.
I want to share this yummy treat that I had at an organic restaurant while away last week. I wish I had the exact recipe but I don’t. They are called Carob Krispies and consist of raisins, Rice Krispies, and then they are coated with carob. Yummy and healthy!! My guess is you combine all the ingredients in a bowl and spoon out drops on a cookie sheet to cool. They are bite-size and remind me of a chunky bar!
Best wishes to you all for a healthy holiday season!!!
