It's All a Big Mind Game

Hi Healthy Bloggers!

I hope you are all still checking in from time to time! I know some of you fell off the wagon. So get back on! I have realized over the past nine weeks that this is all one big mind game! You decide that you will eat differently, or not, but it’s all in your preparation, dedication and mostly your mind! Traditionally when I was on a “diet” I focused on what I couldn’t have, not what was good for me. Now I’m eating at least 5-6 times a day and losing — 16 lbs. to date! The cholesterol battle for me was a mind shift, because it wasn’t about the weight , but about my health.

I am coming on my 10th week next week of the Total Body Shaping Program and every day is hard! It is getting harder and harder to crawl out of bed, but I make up my mind to continue. I push through the “burn” everyday. It’s not easy , but I discovered last week that when I stop dwelling on how much it sucks and hurts, and focus on my own strength and body, it has really helped! My dad gave me great advice one day after I was complaining of aching legs, and he said “Your legs are the largest muscle group and once you build up some strength and push thought that burn, you will enjoy it.” So with those words in my head I struggle through countless lunges and squats. But it’s all in my head. Positive or negative thoughts, only I can decide which one to focus on, and I choose positive.

I am reading this book called “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver and its a memoir about this woman and her family who move from Arizona to Virginia, and they vow to eat only what they can raise, grow or buy from local markets. It’s full of factual information about nutrition as well as how the government controls so much of what we eat. I would recommend it! I have become more conscious of what I eat and where it’s from.

Hope to hear from you all. Remember being healthy is a conscious effort that you control. You can do it!!

you definitely hit the nail on the head! It really all comes down to being mental and in the end every day is a choice you make starting when the alarm goes off. You are doing a great job, if you can do this with your busy schedule I challenge anyone that they can do it too!!!
