I was afraid to step on the scale this week because I had a few yummy greasy Puerto Rican fried foods this weekend (empanadillas, sorullos and alcapurrias) and a piece of my niece’s birthday cake. But I was happily surprised that I am 8 lbs healthier!! Little adjustments turn into great accomplishments.
Exercise Tip:
As we spend most of our working days sitting, here is a tip for the abs:
Contract your abdominal muscles (they are there!) as far in as you possibly can — visualize connecting your navel to your spinal cord — and relax. Repeat this motion for 2 minutes. Then stretch your arms up as high as you can and hold for 8 counts. This contraction will teach your abdomen to contract even when sitting and the stretch will provide a sleek, elongated abdominal wall. (A time will come when we can actually see them!)
