I’m Alicia and I’ve been a nail professional since 1996. I am also a licensed esthetician and soon to be a licensed hairstylist. I own Body & Soul in Denver, Colo., and I am the very proud mother of a beautiful princess named Sydney. I have just taken on some new and exciting challenges with CND and hope that the next 10 years will be as enjoyable as the first 10 years. Everyday, I try to remember that God has given me so many gifts and talents and that it is up to me what I choose to do with them. Live Happy! Live Full! Live Blessed!
I grew up a skinny girl who never had to exercise or watch her weight. Now as I became older, the signs of my lack of exercise and improper food choices began to take their toll on my appearance. I thank God that I am healthy and take no medication, but I do not want to take it for granted and expect it to be that way always. As I began to write for this blog, the task became extremely difficult, as I had to admit to myself and now to you that I was not doing what I should have been. I have been lazy — too busy, apathetic and sometimes I just didn’t care. So why change now? For ME and Sydney! All of my daughter’s life, I have tried to be the example of what a great woman she can be. Teaching her that she can do anything with God by her side, so why can’t Mommy show her that Mommy can do anything too?! This is the one thing that I have struggled with for years and it is time that I win! I want to lose weight! I want to look good in my clothes! I want to be comfortable with my appearance! I want to show my daughter that Mommy may not always be the superhero. I have struggles but I too can overcome them. So the next time she says to me “Mommy, I want to be just like you,” I won’t hesitate and think of my weight! I can just say “Great!”
